GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The primary responsibility of the choir director is to co-direct and co-facilitate the music programs of First Presbyterian Church in conjunction with the director of the praise team and bell choir. The choir director will recruit and train volunteers for the chancel choir. The choir will be under the supervision of the Pastor and Session. The position will be reviewed yearly by the pastor and personnel committee.

His/her actions reflect a desire to carry out God’s will in his/her life and lead other people to a life where Christ is the center in all things; a person who fulfills the commandment to love people as Christ taught us to love. This person’s goal is to be a guide that leads others in the redemptive work of our God.
CHOIR DIRECTOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
10-15 hours per week
Direct chancel choir
Work with the Pastor, AV-Tech, other music staff and the lay worship team to design and implement creative, truly blended worship
Work to develop/expand the music ministry of the church
Responsible for assigning an anthem for weekly and special services
Provide solo performance according to skill when necessary
Administer the Worship/Music budget with the Worship Team
Attend weekly staff meetings
Other duties as designated by the pastor
MINOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Worship concerts and series outside of the weekly worship service
Christmas and Easter services, high holy days such as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday
Manage and supplement the church music library
Attend special events deemed important to the life of the church
Required Qualifications
Voice training and choir directing
The ability to recruit new members for our music programs
Experience in collaborative leadership in a church setting
Experience in blended and traditional services
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to play piano
Ability to play organ
Ability to play other instruments
ANNUAL COMPENSATION
Commensurate with abilities and experience
